A letta Collins is telling me about what arrived in the post when she started her latest project. "A big parcel came and it was my vocal score for West Side Story, " she says. "But then there was this other score, " she mimes holding a weighty tome. "And I opened it and it was the choreography, this most beautiful book with absolutely every movement all written out and diagrams, so detailed and exact. Because everybody who does West Side Story uses the same choreography. " Or at least they did, until now. Since its stage premiere in 1957, Leonard Bernstein's score for West Side Story has been inseparable from Jerome Robbins ' choreography, a masterful marriage of movement, music, character and narrative. Robbins also directed the musical (and the 1961 film version) and his iconic moves defined the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, his mid-century jazz-ballet never losing its cool. No último fim de semana (dias 4, 5 e 6 de maio) rolou o 14º Cartucho durante a Feira do Livro de Santa Maria 2018. Um show à parte para os visitantes da Feira que presenciaram uma bela apresentação de Beto Pires, sucedido da escolha do tema deste ano, "lixo" (os outros eram "velocidade" e "alimento"). Na mesma noite foi anunciado o homenageado da edição: Rafael Correa. Participante ativo do Cartucho desde 2006, Rafael (que reside em PoA) já foi premiado em vários concursos de charge e cartum. A algum tempo foi d iagnosticado com esclerose múltipla, fazendo com que criasse a HQ Memórias de um Esclerosado, onde conta através do humor sua rotina com a doença. O sábado foi movimentado para os cartunistas que desenharam bastante durante a manhã e a tarde de sábado, com a presença em massa do público que prestigiou as atividades. Os trabalhos resultantes do evento com o tema "lixo" podem ser conferidos até o fim da feira (13 de maio), onde ficarão expostos. Segue o registro... *e clique nas imagens para ampliar
reviewed by Shaun Wilden As a teacher trainer, I was intrigued when I first came across this publication from CUP. It's not often that sets of photocopiable material for trainers are published. Traditionally books aimed at teacher trainers are ones that give methods, ideas and suggestions. Teacher Training Essentials is a resource book of 30 'lessons' divided into three sections – classroom methodology, developing language awareness and background to teaching. This means we have lessons on everything from promoting learner autonomy through to world Englishes. As with most classroom photocopiable material, the user is given a set of tutor notes and two pages of material for trainees. The trainer's notes provide procedural instructions, answer keys, reflection questions and information that can be fed into sessions for trainees. The trainee handouts have standard worksheet activities i. e. gapfills and scenarios but also include snippets of coursebook material for reference and analysis.
